At the time I’m working on this article, here in France where I live, schools, high schools, colleges, and universities are still closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This means that not only our kids are on holiday, but they are alose locked down at home.
As parents, their mom and I try to do our best to keep them busy so the days are not too long for them. Perhaps on your side, you are certainly experiencing the same situation too.
If yes, then welcome to the club!

With the holidays coming up and kids at home, it’s time to add some interesting, creative and fun family activities you can do at home. Your kids are sure to love them and you’ll enjoy them yourself.
In this article, we are going to see a few fun and creative activities you can do at home to keep your kids busy during these times of uncertainty.
If you already have a pet at home, one of the most popular activities around for families is to learn how to train your pet to teach them good manners. Many people have pets at home.
But often, with the children’s school, the activities of the grown-ups and the work of the parents, there is not always time to take good care of their pets.
With the confinement imposed by this COVID-19, almost the whole family is at home. Everyone, therefore, has a little more time than usual to do the things they did not have time to do in normal times.
When shopping for a gift for the holidays, consider what your child’s interests are and try to include that in the gift. That way you can have a fun toy instead of a boring gift. For example, you could give your child a stuffed animal or some other fun toy that includes the types of things they like to play with.
The most popular of these activities around the holidays are coloring and crafts. Children love to color them and do some craft projects that incorporate those activities. There are so many fun and interesting ideas to keep your children occupied during the holidays.
When you go shopping for a present for a young one, think about what their current cartoon characters may be like. If your child loves Marvel, you could get them an action figure.
This way you’ll know what they’re going to be interested in after the holidays. Get them a Marvel character clothes or a Spiderman theme for their room for instance.
Another way to keep your children amused is to take them shopping and let them do some of the fun shopping. My kids like it when we go out for shopping.
But unfortunately, these days we can’t really go out that much so we do most of our shopping online. I’m probably sure that you do the same thing too. We can’t go out. But thanks God we still can shop online.
Having your children next to you when shopping (even online) is a great way to let them be creative and come up with some different presents to give to the entire family. For example, they can think of things you would not think about if you were shopping alone.
If your children like watching television shows and cartoons like Dinosaur Train, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Dora the Explorer, Peppa Pig, PAW Patrol or SpongeBob Squarepants that you enjoy watching too, then that’s another way to incorporate that into the holiday activities that you can do at home.
The great idea here is to watch these kinds of shows together with them. It can be silly or it can be serious, but either way, your children will enjoy watching it with you.
Some families just like to throw a party for everyone to come and have fun with each other and some of the holiday traditions that they bring back from the past year.
Even though you can’t really invite other people to your home at the moment, a dinner party among the members of your family is always a great idea. It allows everyone to get together and have a good time.
Another of your favorite holiday activities is to play games together. You could let your children choose the games that they like to play and you can play them together. You could even just share ideas for games and let your children learn the techniques that they’re using.
If you want to get your kids excited about playing games, a great game to start is to dress up and read the story together. You could make it a contest and each person takes turns reading the story as a little girl and telling a little boy a little story. In the end, everyone gets to choose the character they like the best and their turn comes to make them an adult.
These are just a few of the ideas that you can use to come up with some fun, creative and family activities around the holidays. These are just a few of the things that you can do with your children to keep them busy and entertained at home.
