I have long hesitated before writing this article because, to be honest with you, I do not celebrate Halloween for many reasons.
But since Halloween is a fun holiday that many people are waiting for, and that may be your case as well, I finally decided to write an article on the subject for those of you who are interested in Halloween.
The purpose of this article is not to promote Halloween. The goal is to help you find some great inspirations as well as ideas for decorating your home.

Halloween is a fun time of year, and your decorations should help you get the whole neighborhood in on the spirit of the holiday (no pun intended)!
There are some cool ways to make home decorations that are cheap but just as spooky and fun as the store-bought kind and they will give you a cool project to get excited about too!

These DIY Best Halloween Decorations for Outdoor and Home Decor are simple to make. You can either make them yourself or include your children.
So, while you are inserting the lights to the empty milk jugs, your kids can work on coloring the funny faces and so on.
[box type=”download”] To decorate your home and make it ready for Halloween, you really only need a few simple and very cheap tools you already have at your home, such as a magic marker, scissors, hanging hooks, a styrofoam ball, some cheesecloth, and some Christmas lights, you name it! [/box]
So, without further ado, here is a list of my 13 DIY Best Halloween Decorations for Outdoor and Home Décor:
1. Candy Wrapper Pumpkins
Get a bunch of pumpkins and print out images of your favorite candy wrappers. Cut these images into thin strips and glue them to your pumpkin to get the effect of the pumpkins being wrapped like a candy bar. Stick to one type of candy per pumpkin to get the best effect!
2. Bat Branches
Take a bunch of branches and twigs from the yard and put them in a vase. Take small black ribbons and tie them on, then glue eyes to the knot in the middle to give the effect of a group of bats.
If you want, you can also cut out black bats from paper or cardstock to put in the branches if you have the time.
3. Mummy Pillows
Take thin white fabric or gauze and wrap it around the throw pillows of your living room like you would wrap up a mummy. Then cut out paper eyes or buy some plastic ones from a hobby store to glue onto the front of the pillow and give it a face.
4. Lantern Post Sign
This one will require more materials, so grab a wooden post and two thin wooden boards. You’ll need to wrap orange and black duct tape in alternating stripes on the post.
Paint the boards black and use white paint or chalk to write your spooky message on it before attaching them to the post. You can get a hook and a small lantern and attach them to the post below the two boards as well.
5. Hanging Cages
You can usually find the materials to build these cages from the dollar store for very cheap. Grab a couple of laundry baskets and some plastic chains for as cheap as you can.
Get some zip ties and black spray paint along with some scissors and whatever you want to fill the cages with.
Cut any part of the basket that takes away from the caged look off and spray the basket black.
You can put plastic skeletons or bugs or any number of things inside, and use the chains to hang up the final product!
6. Witch’s Broom Chandelier
Hang a broom from the ceiling and buy a bunch of small mason jars, black sand (or sand that you can color), and battery-powered candles (for safety reasons).
Fill each jar with the black sand and one candle each, then take a black string or twine and tie these mason jars to the broom to make a lighting fixture.
7. Halloween Tablecloth
This one is easy and can fit whatever Halloween theme that the room is going for. It’s hard to find a plain black table cloth in a normal home store, and they are more expensive than sheets.
It is easier to just buy a black sheet and then find some stencils unless you are talented enough with the artwork on your own.
8. Skull Candle Holder
Another good trip to the dollar store to get some plastic skulls. Take a knife and cut holes in the top of the skulls that are big enough to fit a candle inside. You can put as many candles as can fit into each skull and place them all over your house to set the mood for whoever comes over for the holiday!
Take some red food dye to the candles and make them look bloody to add to the impact.
9. Phantom Mirror
This one is really cool and REALLY easy, but you can make your mirror look haunted in a jiff. Get a thin, white sheet of paper to cut your ghost out of and simply attach it to the front of your mirror.
The thinner the better and take some chalk dust to the mirror before attaching it to make it look more eerie and old.
10. Ghost Windsock
Take some tin cans, white fabric, and white paint and go to town!
You can turn the cans upside-down after painting them and attach strips of the fabric to the bottom of the cans. Add some eyes to the front to make them look like ghosts and hang them up on your trees outside.
They will look spooky when they blow in the wind!
11. Halloween Wreaths
You can use anything to make a Halloween-themed wreath, but you need to start with a foam or plastic ring. You can get them from anywhere, but if you can’t then find some flexible branches that you can tie together to make a ring.
After that, you can use black ribbons, white cloth or any number of things to wrap around it and attach bugs or bat cutouts to make the wreath. You can get really crazy and glue Halloween masks or candy to the entire wreath too!
12. Halloween Door
Attaching eyes, a mouth and a face to your door can completely change the impact for the kids trick-or-treating in your neighborhood. You can make a ghost door or a zombie door, a witch door or anything that you can think of. You can even use the door to make a coffin or something even spookier than a monster. The possibilities are endless!
13. Cheesecloth Ghosts
You have to use balled up paper or overturned trashcans to give the ghosts a body. Then just drape cheesecloth over whatever you are using and use a black sharpie to give the ghost a set of eyes.
The end result will be a very spooky ghost in the shape of whatever you want.
Some people even use plastic sculptures of people to add the cheesecloth to for an even creepier feel.
